It has been raining all day here today, with the sun peeking out from the clouds only once or twice. Erin and Caiden went to visit friends for a picnic and Jen and Kye stayed home with Richard and I, they are still quite ill, Jen's tonsils are swollen and Kye is coughing quite a lot. The elderberry syrup I made is working nicely though and we visited our local health shop to stock up on homoeopathic remedies to nurse these little ones back to health. We lit a fire today and made the lounge toasty and warm...
The girls have been loving building these card structures. I am amazed at how high they can go!
The concentration is incredible...(I must add, no one is allowed to move in the room when cards are built this high, in case there is a sudden draught of air :)
Jenna actually built hers all the way to the top, but I wasn't fast enough with my camera and they all toppled down. I have also been working on my submission for Rhythm of the Home Magazine today:)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone:)
Happy May Day!
Warmly
Linda

Rainy here, too. I see that you heat your house with a stove. We bought our first stove and ripped out our furnaces about twenty five years ago. We started with a beautiful wood burning stove - decorated with acorns. But the smoke was bad for our valley, so we switched to natural gas, and a much less charming, but still good and friendly stove. We love sitting on the large raised hearth when we come in from the cold. I miss throwing on boots and coat and scarf and tromping through the snow to bring in wood. But only a little.
ReplyDeleteHaving a stove as a center of the home is delicious. I wouldn't put those furnaces back in for ANYTHING.
hope they are all better soon! those houses look fun. how exciting that you are contributing to rhythm of the home! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat first photo just looks sooo cozy! And the card structures are amazing. I'm going to have to show this post to my girls to see if they would be interested in trying it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear Jen and Kye are not feeling well and hope they get better soon. Seeing those pictures of the house of cards brings back warm childhood memories of doing the same. Your home sounds so cozy with the fire while it rains outside.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rae and Stacy about the little ones:)
ReplyDeleteI love building card towers, although it gets so frustrating for me sometimes that I have to cheat by using a little prestik... ;)
ReplyDeleteHope they feel 200% soon. =)
It rained here all day too - I love this weather :) We lit a fire and I had yarn drying all over the house
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so cozy and warm. I hope everyone feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteRainy here, too...and, I'm feeling rather under the weather. Oh! How I could use some of your elderberry syrup!!
ReplyDeleteWishing everyone good health--and more of that amazing card-house-building patience! :)
Wow....those are incredible structures. What a great way to spend a rainy saturday.
