Photos of our new brood for Black and White Wednesday... Our chickens are growing so fast, they should start to lay any day now... They are so sweet, they all stay together in a little group and follow each other around the garden constantly:) If one should stray away from the rest, there is a flurry of flapping wings as she runs frantically to the others... So sweet to watch...

A few of the other girls roaming in the garden...

ReplyDeleteChickens really *are* delightful to watch! We have been thoroughly enjoying our adventure into this feathery realm. I must get out and get some decent photos of them. Yours are beautiful!

Wow! What breed of chickens are these? The fact that they're combless would make them perfect for our Canadian winters! I love chickens. They're prehistorically beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOk, so I know I'm a total dork, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where to pick up the code for your buttons?! Ack. I've tried every way I know to do it but I definately want Wednesday and Friday!
ReplyDeleteDear Neumaisse,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for wanting to use the buttons:) They are pictures that I added to my sidebar. If you right click on the button with your mouse, click on 'save picture as' then copy it into your photos. Go into 'edit your blog' and click on 'add a Gadget'. Add it as a 'Picture gadget' and just add my blog address from your browser as a link.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to raise chickens. We've been looking into it recently, but we'd need to do some serious work on our backyard first.
That top photo is quite the lovely portrait!!
ReplyDeletePenny is my fave. I'm doing a blog right NOW with your link for the giveaway in it. I feel sort of initiated because we've been chicken babysitters, and my friend had some girls just about this age running around with the ladies.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to have chickens last year. It didn't work out. So this year! Doesn't look like this is the year either. Next year perhaps? Hopefully?
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your photos of your little ladies.
Chickens are a great subject for black and white photos. They photograph so beautifully. It must be fun raising chickens.
ReplyDeleteI saw that you already visited my Black & White Wednesday photo of hands knitting, but here is the link anyway:

ReplyDeleteWe have a hen and a rooster, I got pictures on my blog chicks being ...
They were to be two hens ... surprise!
Your hennys are so sweet! We love our poultry here too - in fact, we just hatched some pea-chicks (baby peacocks!) they make the most interesting little whistling sounds and today one of the wee babies was trying to crow!

Dear Homesteadgirl,
ReplyDeleteThey are called Highline chickens, I cannot understand why it is taking so long for their combs to grow. Maby they are combless, we always buy this breed and they always have combs, so we will just have to wait and see:)
