I have been dyeing up a storm, it's one of my favourite things to do:) What I am really enjoying about it, is that I can use my sun stove and not have to use any power at all, so I guess this is called 'green dyeing' :) When the yarn comes out of the solar stove, it is steaming hot and the dyes have fixed beautifully. The dyes I use are also Earth friendly... I am enjoying this journey to the full, treading lightly on the Earth...
Below are my new shop yarns, they are a handspun, superwash and are all one of a kind rainbows, each skein is 3.5 ounces, approx 164 yards.
Happy weekending to you all.

Oh my Linda, these are beautiful. My 3yo Rebekah is so into reainbows right now. Just last night we were drawing rainbows and I was thinking I need to knit her a rainbow something, tunic, dress, vest, . . . Your rainbow yard would be perfect. Wish I was able to order it NOW. Hopefully you will be dying more rainbow yarn, because I know this will go fast.

ReplyDeleteOh, that is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey are very beautiful Linda. I'm sure the wool is so soft and cuddly.
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous georgeous.... Now where is mr messyfish's credit card....!
ReplyDeleteYour yarn is so bright and pretty. The process of dyeing it sounds interesting with the solar oven. It must be very satisfying to dye the yarn in such an earth-friendly way.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours Linda!! Do you spin your wool as well? A solar oven sounds brilliant. I have found some earth friendly cold dyes but they are not as vibrant...what brand do you use? Also I am seeking some wool that is probably the next thickness up from yours, I think it is called shoelace yarn?? it is thick and looks felted but still small enough diameter to knit or crochet...any ideas?? :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful color! I love it!
ReplyDeleteDear Baa-Me Kniits,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much:)
I do spin my own yarn, I also buy handspun undyed yarn for dyeing. The dye that I use is called Lanoset Dye, wonderfully vibrant:) This particular yarn is a chunky handspun.
