Today I knitted and needlefelted this little Christmas Sweater Ornament for the holidays. I am going to be gifting these to my close friends and family to hang on their trees or around their homes for Christmas and we will also be hanging these in our home too:)
Materials:
Natural yarn, mine is a handspun Merino
4mm circular needles
Wool needle for sewing up
Colourful fleece for needlefelting
Felting needle
Wire for hanger
Pattern:
Cast on 28 stitches and join for knitting in the round.
Purl 2 rounds.
Knit 14 rounds.
Now we are going to knit the front of the sweater as a row instead of in the round. Knit 14 stitches and place the other 14 stitches on a stitch holder to be knitted later. These will make the back of the sweater.
Knit the 14 stitches that are on the needle, knit 4 rows in stocking stitch, then purl 1 row and knit 1 row.
Cast off.
Place your saved stitches that were on your stitch holder onto a needle to knit the back.
Knit in stocking stitch for 4 rows.
Purl 1 row, knit 1 row.
Cast off.
This is the body of the sweater. Sew up the shoulders of the sweater, leaving an opening for the neck.
Arms:
With your circular needles, pick up 12 stitches around the armhole of your sweater.
Continue knitting in the round to knit the sleeves.
Knit 14 rounds for the sleeves, purl 1 round and knit1 round.
Cast off.
Repeat above for the other sleeve.
Sew in all your ends.
Here is the little sweater / jersey with all its ends sewn in and the little hanger I made from a small piece of wire.
Once I had finished, I needlefelted a little Christmas tree in a pot onto the front of the sweater.

I found one on Lion Brand's site, but yours is much prettier & neater (theirs is in one piece & you stitch up the sides & arm seams). It's not always easy to follow knitting instructions but I had absolutely no trouble with your directions. Thanks again!!
