I was paging through one of my favourite gardening magazines this morning,
The Gardener, when I noticed an art competition. The art competition is called Paint a Poppy. The poppy of your choice can be painted in any medium. I mentioned this to my girls and they were both so excited at take part and got to work straight away. They both chose water colour pencils, which are drawn onto the paper first and then water is added with a brush to blend and shade and turn your drawing into a painting. Below are their finished paintings... Jenna's painting is the first one and Erin's is the second. They had such fun designing and painting these flowers... We are definately going to frame these beautiful treasures and hang them in our home...
What talented girls, I can always tell a Waldorf family ; ) I hope you frame them for your own home!

So so pretty, I love poppies, it is such a shame they bloom so fleetingly. Having these two paintings is a wonderful way to celebrate them all year round :)

I love it when my children amaze me. It's clear that you have awakened the awareness of detail and form in the girls. It will echo in every area of their lives - and will lend an analytical edge to their wonder.

The girl's drawings are beautiful. I've tried to work with watercolor pencils a few times and never had much luck. The shading of the poppies is so pretty.
