Hat Knitting

I am still busy with my, stranded knitting hat from Solsilke, I have made quite a lot of progress and I'm enjoying this tremendously. Each round has been two stranded knitting and then last night I began on a three stranded row. I thought all was going well and then at the end of this particular row, I was a stitch short:( When I checked back, I had knitted four instead of three stitches right at the beginning of the row which put the entire pattern out just slightly. Now I am in the process of unpicking this row and, well, the stitches are really tiny, so wish me luck:)

I love the colours so much and I am thrilled I gave, stranded knitting a try.
This hat design is called, The Blue Light Hat and Scarf Pattern. A few people asked me last week to link to the pattern, it is on the Solsilke Bohus page on the link above. You can write to them under 'contact' and they will send you a price list:)

This morning my hubby and I went out for a quick breakfast date, how lovely it was to spend some time with Richard...

Reading: A kindle book by Kristen D Randle called The Gardener and really enjoying it, she is a wonderful writer.

I am not a big fan of tinking back so I am wishing you lots of luck, although I have had enough practice! The hat is so pretty and after this little hiccup I'm sure you'll just fly through!
    Happy Yarn Along.

  8. Ahh, Kristen's words just sing, don't they? And the characters are so real, so memorable. I miss them after the stories end.

Tinking drives me bonkers. I think that I really must start using a lifeline to minimize my frustration. (It happens that I must tink fairly often.) Your hat is coming along beautifully. I love the gorgeous pop of blue.

I just made my first hat ever, but it was nothing fancy or fine like this one.
Now I want to try one of your animals. Which would your recommend for a very beginner? If you want to see my hat to help you judge my skills....

    3. I'm serious about the sheep. I think I started with a sheep. Or maybe the horse. But the sheep is shorter.

    4. Hi Donna,
As Kristen says the sheep is an easy knit and so is the pig. Let us know how it turns out:)

  16. Beautiful Bohus knitting. It will be a treasured item. Obnoxious terminology lesson here: It really isn't Fair Isle, although it is stranded knitting. Fair Isle refers to the colorwork bands knit with 2 colors, as in the method sweaters from the Fair Isles were knit. Fair Isle does not use purl stitches on the public, as does Bohus. Nordic knitting also uses stranding techniques, but you most often see Lice St and strong graphics used in Nordic knits. It also does not use purl sts on the public side. It is wonderful that we have so many styles of knitting to create such lovely fabrics and garments. Sorry for the buttinski moment, I am just OCD about this stuff.

  24. Beautiful. Sorry about having to unravel all that tiny work, especially when it's at the beginning of a round. I unraveled many times when I was color stranding my hat.

  26. Woo-hoo. I thought I'd never find the bottom of the comments. I am not the least worried that you'll have a problem taking the row out - I work in size 0-2 needles almost all the time, and have very little trouble backing out - which, you know me, I do often. I am wowwed by the colors and the lovely way they melt into one another. Maybe I want to try this, too. Stranded, is it? I love the way it looks, front and back. Makes me feel hummy.

  27. May I just note that the Captia (or however you spell it) offered me a HEBREW word. In HEBRAIC alphabet. All I could do was blink at it and laugh helplessly. I'll write and tell you what I did about it.
