Our Days in Snapshots...

A new week has started and we have been rather busy over the last few days... Here are some snapshots of what we have been enjoying...

I love this crystal pendant that hangs in our classroom window, each morning we are greeted with the most beautiful rainbows before we begin our lessons...

I know... can you believe this sweet puppy... she still thinks she is a tiny baby pup that can fit on the top of the couch. This is where she waits for Richard to drive down the driveway each evening...

Sunday was Jenna and Erin's first mountain bike race, The Dunblane March Hare Race, they rode 10km in 35 and 40 minutes! Yay... I will be joining them for the next one:)

I have been spinning up some Merino roving and thought I would ply this one, real peacock colours. (Have I ever told you I love rainbows...:)

Erin and Kye have been making the sweetest snowmen from clay. I love it when the older children do crafts with the younger ones...

Charlie... need I say more?

Oooh I must share the link to these amazingly beautiful gloves, they are a free pattern! Enjoy:)

Tuesday...

Thank you so much for everyones beautiful comments that have been left since yesterday for the giveaway, I cherish them :) You are all so kind! Today we had the most tremendous electrical storm, lightning and thunder and then we looked under the sideboard table and Charlie and Sandy were fast asleep... so precious, I just love the paw over Charlie's face...

Here is a shelf update, the Oregon shelves have been sanded and oiled and are looking quite superb, thanks to my wonderful husband. I love old furniture, it is so solid and full of character and history, I always wonder where it used to live and what the people were like who owned it before it made its journey to us... We are going to take them into my studio tonight and attach them to the walls, at last I have somewhere to pack my books...(she says with glee...)
I have just listed some new items in my shop, floral fat quarters of South African quilting fabric and undyed South African Merino roving, (so soft) ...
If you missed entering the giveaway yesterday you still have time to enter here, I will be choosing a winner tomorrow, the yarn below is the giveaway item, the softest Camel Silk :)

Do all have a lovely day, I am off to put up shelves:)

Portrait Saturday

I swear... the draw was maby open for two seconds, tops, before Charlie jumped in and proceeded to make himself comfortable! The opportunist, right on top of my clean, neatly folded dish towels. We can't really blame him though, you see, below him was the labrador puppy, who Charlie is not too fond of as Sally is way too playful these days. So this is a really good vantage point for one resourceful cat...
Happy Saturday to you...

WIP Wednesday and Charlie...

Dear Friends,
Today has been a lovely day, we all went shopping for some winter clothes this morning and I have been working on a sweater vest for Kye. I am knitting it in a baby blue merino single ply handspun, spun by community spinners in Cape Town and I am really loving the colour varigation. I have decided to knit this vest in the round, all at once, and the when I reach the armhole I will make the decreases in the front and put the back stitches on a stitch holder and go from there. This is my first attempt at this so wish me luck!

An now for the sleeping positions of Charlie...

This sweety belongs to Erin, he is one year old, huge and always manages to find comfort wherever he might be...

Random Photos...

Oh my, just look how he is watching those chooks scratching through the compost heap...

This is Charlie, now all grown up. He is a beautiful Marmalade cat who belongs to our Erin. He has almond eyes and looks just like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. He will look directly at you, right into your eyes and it feels as if he knows exactly what you are thinking. Aren't cats wonderful...

Our spinach is growing profusely at the moment and it is wonderful steamed and a little cream added...

We found our first Eggplant! So exciting, it's like finding treasure and makes me feel like a farmer!

This is our water storage tank, our borehole pumps water into it every 5 hours and it holds 10 000 litres of. We have had so much rain lately, that we have had to switch off the motor because it is over flowing. We love it during winter, our winters are dry and then we have a steady supply of water for our vegetables and fruit trees... We have an overflow pipe that hangs over our old red brick wall (this is my favourite garden wall and has been standing since our house was bult 80 years ago) and waters our granadilla vine on the other side.

Our sunsets have been glorious lately, you know those ones, when you feel the colours deep within your soul just by looking at them, I love those sunsets...
