Lion and the Unicorn

Over the last two days we have all been knitting like mad! I have posted the photo of the Unicorn Jenna has made minus the horn we still have to find a horn for her and then she will be finished, (thanks Kristie for the pattern!). The lion was knitted by Erin and she finished today. Wow all this knitting, it is wonderful!! Jenna has started to knit herself a pair of slippers and Erin is busy with and elephant. My unicorn still needs to be completed.

Butterfly and Gnome Furniture

Woodworking

Over the past few months we have been busy making a small playhouse for Caiden. We have almost finished the structure and as you can see Carle's (South Africa) gnomes have found a new home there. We have also made them some beds to sleep in and some chairs and a table. There are also some knitted projects that we have been busy with, the hens and the duckling and the sheep and the pig. Jenna made the pig and one of the hens and I made the duckling so it has been a nice combined effort! Lots of fun. We still have lots to make. The butterfly was made by Jenna, she felted it herself and then we sewed the body on last, it came out beautifully.

Maths Gnome

I thought I would also post my first little maths gnome, Division. He is made from felt, I folded the felt over double and cut a cone shape with a rounded base, cut a small opening for his head on the fold and sewed on a base so that he can stand and also keep all of his fleece inside. I put a small acorn in the space where his head is meant to go and I pulled some washed fleece out from inside to make a beard. He is very cute and my son can't wait for me to make the rest. I am also thinking of finishing him off with a little bell on his head. Hope you like him!

Gnomes

We discovered these delightful little gnomes that Carle made and decided to make them too and post them for everyone to see. My daughters are even attempting to make some and they are doing quite well! If you want to see Carle's gnomes and the pattern to make them you can find it at: http://environmentalhomeschooling.blogspot.com/2008/04/gnome-oakies.html>
