Today is my Birthday!

Yip today is my birthday, but the reason for this post is not to advertise that fact, but rather to express how deeply blessed I am as a Waldorf homeschooling mother. Birthdays are very special in our family, each child has a beautiful table arranged with their presents, flowers, gemstones and a candle and a crown that I have hand sewn. It is a very special time indeed!

When I awoke this morning, I was astonished to see, that I too had been given a special birthday table by my children, with orchids in a vase, cards that they had made themselves and gift bags, with lovely gifts from all of them! Erin even spent the whole of yesterday afternoon sewing me my very own birthday crown! I had no idea! I will always cherish this great surprise that I received this morning, that was completely the childrens' idea with absolutely no help. I feel very blessed indeed! Thank you my little angels!

Vegetable Garden Gate

We were walking through our garden yesterday and I thought I would share these photos with you, the first is the entrance to one of our vegetable gardens, the Banksia Roses are in full bloom for Spring and look so effective above our little wooden gate. Our cauliflower is ready to be harvested and so are our beetroots, our lettuce is almost ready and our onions. It is such a satisfying feeling to just go outside and pick our own veggies for dinner and know that they are organic and pesticide free!

This second photo is of our telephone pole, the Wisteria has simply taken over, isn't it divine?

Jenna's Fairy House

Jenna has built a little fairy house to welcome all the fairies back to our garden including Lady Spring, she has built it in the crook of a very old English Oak Tree that stands proudly in our garden.

Holiday in the Bush

We have just come home after a wonderful holiday in the bush! These are some of the photos:

The sun was so beautiful, I had to photograph it from the game drive truck!

The clan on the game drive truck.

This tree is so beautiful, it is called a Wild Fig and is growing at the lodge where we were staying.

This little guy was running around, I have no idea what his proper name is, so if anyone does, please enlighten me.

We drove around for quite a while with the game ranger, trying to find the herd of elephants, finally we found them. They were crossing a plain. The mother elephant walked over to a tree, pushed it, split it in half and knocked it down! Wow this was amazing to see, and we were about 10 metres away!!

This beautiful tree is called a Fever Tree, it is magnificant! The bark is green and powdery. All the little black dots are Weaver nests. I have never seen so many nests in a tree before!!

We had a fantastic time!!
