Welcome to Creative Friday.
This is the special project I have been knitting for a dear friend's birthday, a circular cowl scarf. I spun the beautiful BFL and silk roving and then knitted it up over a few days. I love the softness of luxury yarns, perfect for a scarf that is going to be worn so close to the skin. I spun up the roving to about a double knitting or Aran weight yarn and knitted the cowl with size 12 mm needles, this gave the scarf a lovely lacy, airy feel, so that it wouldn't be heavy when worn. I knitted it in the round on circular needles with a long cable.
Once finished the cowl will wrap around your neck 3 or 4 times, so soft and warm.
Here is the pattern:)
Materials:
12 mm circular needles with a long cable
Hand spun yarn about a Dk or Aran weight
Wool sewing up needle
Pattern:
Cast on 118 stitches on circular needles and join for knitting in the round.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Photo....both your daughter and the cowl! Love the colourway :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the cowl, fantastic picture!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect way to use such amazing handspun!
ReplyDeleteThe cowl looks great. I have a question about the yarn...it looks like single ply. Is it? Did you have a problem with it trying to twist on itself while you were knitting (if it is single ply).
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie,
DeleteYes, it is a single ply and it didn't twist up at all whilst I was knitting. I am quite inspired to knit up a few more, such a quick knit:)
Happy Friday everyone! Love the cowl! Beautiful model! :)
